The Crucible

img_5728While watching The Crucible, a play concerning the Salem witch trials in Massachusetts, I realized that there are many other events throughout history that are very alike to this. People have been wrongfully convicted of crimes, mass killings have wiped out an entire generation, and people have been suspected of doing something that was based solely on superstition. During the Reign of Terror following the French Revolution, people were guillotined for the slightest sign of opposition to the new government. The Jews were obliterated during the holocaust. After Moses was born, all the Hebrew infants were thrown into the river to die. People like Arthur Miller were accused of being communists during the Red Scare, which inspired this play to be written.
